We've had the BEST experience with VT! Our tutor has helped my middle schoolers math grades come up from a D to an A for our 8th grader and from a D to a B for my 6th grader. I'm beyond pleased with how she connected with my boys.

The student is getting much better at her physics work. Her struggle is still trusting herself rather than looking for a trap in every question. Although it took us an hour and a half to do her physics homework, it was worth it as I tried to let her do as much of it on her own as possible. I believe she will be more ready, this way, for her test on Friday.

I worked with the student on the basics of unit circles and went over past quizzes and homework with her. We then spent some time looking at her physics homework and reviewing the basics of projectile motion. We talked about the basic equations to know and how to solve problems by looking at motion in the x and y directions independently.

The student completed a practice test over "Fever 1793." He did well on one matching quiz, earning a 100%. However, on the test, he earned only a 75%. He has several key plot points and characterization elements with which he is still struggling. We discussed in particular the characters of Eliza, Mathilda, and Grandfather. We will need to focus more on vocabulary during the summer months. After specific prompts and discussion, he was able to write a basic response to the essay question. He has showed good progress in identifying figurative language. We will continue working on this as well after the "Fever" test next Tuesday.

The student and I practiced counting to 30 today in French. We also spent time identifying and writing the letters of the alphabet - I asked the student to identify the letter in both English and French. He has shown great improvement with identification of the alphabet and correctly identified each letter yesterday. Today I introduced "I am hungry" and "I am thirsty" in French.

Continued working on the science section of the placement test. Worked on two science sections. Dissected the passages into 5 minute timed periods to mimic actual time management and stressful conditions. After each section we would review the passages and assess any weak points or errors. The student's timing improved even during the two science passages I had him do.
