...and educator certification candidates. I thoroughly enjoy tutoring. In my mind, what makes a good tutor is someone who can listen to, interact well, and understand the needs of the student. This is so important because it establishes an environment where both the student and the tutor feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and feelings about the material. In a tutoring session, a student should feel open to ask questions and express concerns. Outside of academics,...

Biomechanics Tutoring FAQ
The field of biomechanics is a fascinating marriage of Newtonian mechanics and human physiology with the nearly exclusive purpose of analyzing the application and generation of forces within the human body. If you are pursuing studies in musculoskeletal physiology, neurobiology, physical therapy, or medicine, biomechanics can hold the key to answering the why, how, and what if questions that you may encounter. Why are women more prone to ACL injury than men? How can wearing a seat belt impact concussion risk during a car accident? What would happen if a woman with osteoporosis fell directly on her knee? Would the ligament or the bone give out first in injury? A fundamental understanding of biomechanics is absolutely essential for understanding injury mechanisms and, subsequently, prescribing the appropriate tests to accurately diagnose the injury.
In part because of its dualistic dependency on both physics and biology, biomechanics can often seem counterintuitive to students. While you may have studied one field or the other for years, meshing them together and applying one to the other often requires you to remember long-forgotten details from past biology or physics courses. If you find yourself struggling to grasp the concepts presented in your coursework, biomechanics tutoring may be able to help. With locations nationwide, Varsity Tutors can help you connect with instructors well versed in both the foundations and applications of the biomechanics field. They use their valuable skills and knowledge to support students like yourself in their goals and aspirations. The Varsity Tutors educational directors will work with you to create a detailed student profile that allows potential tutors in your area to determine what they can do for you. In addition, it serves as the basis for your tutoring plan, which is flexible and based on your learning style, personality, preferences, and syllabus.
Whether you hope to pursue a career in medicine, biomedical engineering, or research, being able to understand how the body reacts to external force is a key component of biology. Biomechanics tutoring offers you the opportunity to build your knowledge base in a focused manner, drawing on your course curriculum, personal interests, and professional aspirations to build a custom learning plan around your goals. You can even collaborate with your tutor to direct your tutoring trajectory. No matter where your personal interests lie, your tutor can help integrate your passions with whatever topics are covered in your coursework to create engaging sessions custom designed for you. In addition, you can request to spend more or less time on a concept as you need. Your tutor can tell when you've mastered a concept and haven't, and they can offer the guidance needed to help. Further, they can provide tutoring sessions that focus on preparing you for an approaching test or exam, as well as homework and projects.
The one-on-one atmosphere of biomechanics tutoring allows you to receive immediate feedback and answers to your questions. With the individual attention offered by private tutoring, you do not have to fight for a moment of time with a busy professor or an inexperienced teaching assistant. Your tutor will also work to prioritize convenience, allowing you to dictate your tutoring schedule. Your biomechanics tutoring can take place at the time, location, and frequency that you choose. Your instructor can meet you on campus, in your home, or even online at the time of your preference, including evenings or weekends. We know that your schedule is likely busy with numerous other commitments, which is why it is so important make tutoring as accessible as possible. You even have the option of meeting in person or face-to-face on the Varsity Tutors live platform online.
The efficiency and effectiveness offered by a biomechanics tutor simply cannot be matched in a classroom environment. For more information, contact your local educational directors today!

Recent Biomechanics Tutoring Session Notes
Today we finished up the algebra quiz from the last session, as well as her homework over the same stuff - more factoring. She's doing okay.
We reviewed various ecology topics (primary vs. secondary succession, population density models, etc.), but mostly spent the time reviewing for an upcoming assessment test that covers all of the topics for the year.
Today, we reviewed for the student's test which involved photosynthesis and cellular respiration. His teacher posted a review set on the class website and that is what we covered today. He had a grasp on each chapter and PowerPoint slide set.
Tonight we began to go over PowerPoint slides and main topics that will be covered on her exam. I explained some different ways she could help study and also how much time she should expect to devote to studying for this exam.
During our session today, the student and I read chapter 4 section 1 regarding population growth. We then completed the Section Assessment. We also finished the BioJournal for Chapter 3 to cover all of the Chapter 3 Assignments.
Today we reviewed DNA/RNA structure and functions, DNA replication, transcription and translation, and protein production in the cell. We also briefly reviewed dihybrid genetic crosses, starting to get her ready for her final exam.
