I am a chemical engineering graduate of Drexel University , Class of 2013. Since graduation , I spent about a year completing a voluntary service program that involved teaching kids at middle school. I am currently an asset integrity analyst at PinnacleART in Pasadena TX. I am a huge, huge math lover. I also thoroughly enjoy periodic tables, solving equations and reading essays. My experiences with schooling in Nigeria have taught me just how important a teacher's attitude is on the student's success, that is just half of the goal. Let's work together to achieve the other half as well. Outside of work , I like to combine weight training and soccer to keep a lean functional physique.

Education has played a major role in life, shaping my understanding of complex patterns in human societies and also equipping me with the proper tools to chase my ambitions. I love learning. I understand that it is through developing new understandings, and sharing these understandings that we enrich people's lives. I have been blessed with the gift of intelligence, an endless drive for curiosity, and a strong desire to make a positive impact on our world. There is no better way for me to begin making an impact than to help people empower themselves by helping them learn new skills. Whether it is a student with ambitions to study at a German or French university, or an aspiring engineer looking to get through his quantitative coursework--a stepping stone to his dreams of being the next Gustav Eiffel or Steve Jobs--I would love nothing less than to help them achieve their goals. New concepts and skills, especially academic skills, have always come very easy to me. This enabled me in school to always lend an extra hand to my friends around me and to help them grow and understand school challenges, including how to solve math problems or to develop topic sentences and outlines for essays.I love the process of relaying information to places and people who could use the extra push. This drive has given me particular long term aspirations. I want to develop a career centered around giving back to communities in need. I see myself in ten years managing my own nonprofit that helps young people in the developing world acquire tech and communication skills, like coding, english writing or data science, empowering them to pursue their own dreams. I was recently accepted to be a Math Fellow for a nonprofit organization called SAGA Innovations. At SAGA, I will be a full time tutor for early high school students studying in underprivileged spaces for the full 2016/2017 academic year. I am excited to have this opportunity, because I can use my love of learning to impact students in spaces that lack the necessary resources. Varsity Tutors is another stepping stone to complement this experience. The more exposure I get to mentoring different types of tutees, the stronger and more prepared I am to be a top tier mentor--a skill I will most definitely need for my long term goals. This is my primary drive to be a Varsity Tutor.

Learning is one of the most rewarding experiences in life, so I'm passionate about helping people a discover that experience. I've worked in various teaching-related roles for the past 4 years, between summer camps and volunteering at after school programs. I've tutored for 3 semesters at Northeastern in Algebra 2, Pre-calc, and Intro levels of Macro and Micro economics.I absolutely love tutoring math, seeing homework problems get completed is incredibly satisfying. More importantly, learning to think through a problem critically and really understand why your answer is right is a very important skill that applies to all problem solving in any phase of life. The reason I've chosen to study Finance and Economics is to apply that same critical thinking to bigger/more applied situations such as running a successful business and developing economic policy. My tutoring style is very conversational. It's important for me to identify what a student understands and what they don't, from there I work to outline the reasoning that goes into finding the right answer. I'm here to guide a student, and empower them to perform the same sort of critical thinking on problems they face in the future.

I am a graduating student from the University of Virginia, where I have been studying Economics and Politics in the Honors program as a Jefferson Scholar, a merit-based full scholarship. I absolutely love to teach and have spent much of my time in college teaching in various settings. Before getting into my qualifications, though, I think it's important to note one thing about my teaching style. I was never someone who simply "got" things in class. I often struggled to understand relatively simple concepts, especially when compared to my classmates, whether that was in test-taking or in any academic subject. So, I know what it's like to really wrestle with a subject, and I know what kind of assistance is helpful (and what kind of assistance/teaching is not). I think this--empathizing with a student and knowing the difference between good and bad help--is the most important quality of a good tutor. And just as importantly, I will work hard to tailor each tutoring session to the student's needs. I know that everyone's learning style is different, and I view it as my responsibility to cater to the student's strengths while addressing his/her weaknesses. On experience (briefly): I was hired as a teaching assistant by my university's economics department (one of just a few undergraduates), and I also teach debate in local schools in Charlottesville. I enjoy working with students of all ages and have experience teaching students from the elementary school level to the college level. I've worked one-on-one both with friends and with my students on various subjects, including writing, economics, math, and standardized testing. Some qualifications: I recently took the LSAT and scored a 180 after intensive independent study. I am very committed to helping other students increase their scores, as I fully understand the challenges of the test and I know that it can be frustrating not to see your score improve (I often felt that way myself!) The same is true of the SAT. I was not naturally good at test-taking, and so I am passionate about helping students who might be coming from that perspective. I also am excited to tutor in various academic subjects and to help students with college applications. I was accepted to various Ivy League schools before deciding to attend UVa and filled out many applications. As a debate coach, I am constantly editing and refining others' work.

I am recent graduate of the University of Central Florida where I obtained my BSBA in Economics. Since graduation, I started working at an investment firm as a Portfolio Operations Analyst. On the side I love to help students better understand Economics and Statistics. I have been tutoring privately for about 2 years now and I wanted to help more students outside of UCF. My main academic and tutoring focuses are on Quantitative Analysis. Statistics is heavily used in Economics and I have personally taken Econometrics I and II as well as Game Theory. I specialize in helping students learn the fundamentals of Linear Regression and Forecasting. When I tutor I make sure that all my students can repeat the examples I have showed them so that way I can identify any issues throughout their process of finding the solution. I believe it is imperative that students understand "why" they are learning these subjects and how real world examples show up on a daily.
