I am a graduate of the University of Florida (UF), with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Cell Sciences. As an aspiring physician, I am currently working within the healthcare field, while simultaneously applying to medical schools. From my experiences tutoring for the UF Department of Biochemistry, I have witnessed firsthand the amazing feats a student can reach with the proper direction and confidence. I am so passionate about being an educator because this role allows me to help individuals unlock their fullest potentials and chase their dreams. Going through these rigorous courses myself, I wish I had someone to support me throughout the process. Over the years, the biggest problem I faced like many of my own private clients have, is that sometimes students don't know what the instructor is expecting from them. This can occur in any classroom and at any level. Students may be referring to unknown expectations of a teacher or a professor about a particular quiz, exam, midterm, essay or even the primary goal of the academic year. My job is to guide each student towards identifying and achieving what the instructor is looking for, and ultimately comprehending those difficult demands. I try to bridge the gap between the student and teacher. My primary goal is to lead to clarity - not further any confusion, difficulty, or frustration. Learning a language is hard enough. I simply guide the student by showing him or her new techniques to study and methods to learn about the Spanish language. This is turn gives the student the ability to achieve his or her individual goals. Moreover, the previous tension and confusion felt by the student begins to lessen with each session. As a personal tutor I hope to advance the development of a student's initial knowledge of the Spanish language into a solid foundation.

I received my bachelor degree in general biology at the University of Puerto Rico. After that I attended medical school at the University of Monterrey, Mexico and received my MD degree in 2006. I also attended culinary school in Las Vegas where I’ve lived since 2006. Because of my extensive science and medical background I feel comfortable in tutoring Biology, Anatomy and Physiology. I had a great teacher while in medical school that told me that the best way to teach someone is to make it interesting and teach it in a way that makes sense. In my free time I like to read, listen to music, hike, snow-ski, ride my bicycle and cook as well as go to the movies, and play video games. I have taught merit badge classes to Boy Scouts and tutored math and science. Learning can be fun and interesting. I focus on making everything make sense, no matter how abstract the information may be.

I have successfully completed my Bachelor's degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, class of '2017. I also obtain an Associate's degree from Borough of Manhattan Community College. The major that I represent is Forensic Science specializing in Toxicology. My degree will allow me to obtain a job as a Forensic Lab Analyst specializing in Toxicology. My fast pace, multitasking skills, and on scene resolutions applied with science principals will help be the best at my job. Personally I am dedicated, sincere, honest, respectful, courteous, and have a thirst for knowledge.I have been tutoring children since a young age, as I started in my family with my niece and nephews. I tutor mostly math and science subjects. My favorite subject would be math because there is always a definite answer for every question that can be found by doing some calculation. I believe in delivering clarity in subjects based upon individualism. Every child is different and can be taught differently. I create flexible lesson plans for each child based on their needs and ease.Outside of academics I enjoy a variety of sports. These include basketball, volleyball, and handball. My favorite winter activity is iceskating!

Personally, tutoring and teaching were skills I discovered later in life. At the University of Southern Indiana, I tutored for three years. I realized in my time there that I have always been a teacher in some form and that I want to spend my life teaching. I have read widely and have a deep interest in language, its teaching, and its use as a tool for the advancement of people who learn to use it well. My high scores in college meant many graduate schools, even outside my area of study, were sending me mail and email expressing interest in having me study with them. I have found that, while teaching in a traditional sense is great, tutoring is more rewarding, especially since when tutoring, you can see firsthand the gaps in education you are filling.

I've tutored with nonprofit organizations such as Urban Youth Impact and Reading Partners, served as an instructor in the military overseas and as a contractor for a Fortune 500 company, and worked as a teacher in the California public school system. Through this variety of experiences, I've worked with many great educators and students, and found that everyone has a teaching and learning style that works best for them, and the key is finding a match. For myself, the most important attributes in my teaching ability are passion, patience, and perception. Bringing life to the material with creativity and insight kindles and a greater interest in the learner. Having the patience to follow the plan of execution helps the student feel at ease and puts them in a better mindset for success. I am a licensed and certified teacher for grades kindergarten through 8th. I have been a teacher for the past 11 years and have tutored students for 5 years in the areas of reading and math. It is a joy to help students gain the knowledge and self-confidence to succeed academically as well as in all areas of their lives! I am currently enrolled and taking university courses to earn a Master's Certificate as an Educational Diagnostician.

I graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Psychology, and I am beginning a Master of Fine Arts program in Theatre for Youth and Communities at Arizona State University in Fall 2020. I tutor a variety of subjects, but some of my favorites are Spanish, algebra, writing, and test prep. Watching students grow as learners and as people motivates me to continue my work as a tutor.
