I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

Currently a student at the University of Louisville looking forward to helping others learn and grown on a subject or topic that may be a struggle. I am working towards a bachelor's of science in both mathematics and chemistry alongside minors in finance, Spanish, and music (piano performance).

Math(main focus for tutoring) is a dreadful subject to a lot of people, especially to those who do not enjoy math or do not understand, and that's okay. Just like learning any skill or talent, being able to understand mathematics and look at a problem and know what to do takes repetitive practice.

Whenever I help others in this subject who are struggling, after going over a problem and explaining how something works, I enjoy seeing the connections and realizations that people make when using concepts and methods to figure out problems. That's how you know someone is learning.

How I go about approaching someone who is in need of help is to look at the problem, state what is needed for the problem, like the background information that we should already know for this problem, and then work on setting up the problem. It is perfectly okay to back track and look at the background information separately if one forgets how something works or why do we need this in order to solve the problem.

Hobbies

Although I do play piano for school, I still consider it a hobby alongside singing. I also enjoy volleyball and badminton. I interest in going to graduate school for mathematics and ultimately conducting research, whether it be in a laboratory or looking at older writings and elaborating on old mathematical concepts.
