Certified Tutor

I'm passionate about helping students because I know that ALL students are capable. If a student is struggling, it is not because they are stupid it's because they don't have the tools and/or information that they need. My goal is to figure out what tools and information a student is missing and provide it to them in a way that is accessible. I aim to see each student as an individual and to honor their humanity.

Further, I believe that learning is a vulnerable process, and in order for learning to happen students NEED to feel safe making mistakes. I model making mistakes in my practice. I emphasize the importance of maintaining a growth mindset. I try to laugh with my students at least a little bit during each session :)

I received my BFA from Emerson College in Writing, Literature, and Publishing, and my Master's in English from UMass Amherst. I'm a Massachusetts state certified 5-12 English teacher. I took my licensure courses at Boston University and participated in an extensive teacher training program called Teach for America.

I tutor all subjects related to reading and writing. I'm happy to work with writing in any subject, but my focus will be on the writing process, with less input on the content of the paper. I particularly love to work with students who need to write a paper that they are DREADING. I love making the process feel easy and manageable.
