Helping students discover their potential and deepen their understanding of the natural world is one of the most fulfilling aspects of my work. I'm especially passionate about supporting students in life sciences because they cultivate curiosity, critical thinking, and a sense of connection to the environment.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science with a concentration in Natural Sciences from Washington University in St. Louis. Next year, I will be pursuing a PhD in Entomology. My academic and research background has given me a strong foundation in a wide range of biological and environmental topics that I'm excited to share that knowledge with students at all levels.
I tutor environmental science, biology, and other life sciences. Helping students engage with real-world ecological issues and empowering them to think critically about environmental solutions is rewarding and inspiring. I love seeing young people get inspired to imagine and create a better future through science.
My experience working with students includes both formal and informal educational settings. I have worked as a general tutor for a library, tutoring a wide range of ages and subjects, been a teaching assistant for college courses, and done outdoor environmental education. I adapt my tutoring approach to meet each student's needs, aiming to build confidence, spark interest, and make even complex concepts approachable.
My teaching philosophy centers on empathy, enthusiasm, and adaptability. I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and exploring new ideas. I strive to connect lessons to students' lives and interests, making science not just understandable but exciting.
Outside of academia, I enjoy hiking, observing insects in the wild, and spending time with my three dogs. These interests fuel my teaching and allow me to bring a unique, real-world perspective into every tutoring session.
