My passion for teaching stems from years of delivering certified in-service training to peace officers, focusing on professional development and tactical skills. I've also had the privilege of teaching core units of the Basic Peace Officer Course. What does that mean for you? It means I can offer you a comprehensive understanding of subjects like Criminal Law/ Penal Code, where we'll dive into the structure of the Penal Laws, classifications of offenses, and elements of major crimes including assault, property offenses, and organized crime. We'll also thoroughly explore Search and Seizure issues, covering constitutional foundations and legal standards for searches and seizures, including probable cause, warrants, exceptions, and relevant case law for law enforcement procedures. Beyond these, I'm passionate about a range of topics, including multiculturalism and human relations, identity crimes, family violence, victim trauma response, interpersonal communication, verbal de-escalation, criminal investigations, emergency vehicle operations, patrol tactics, civilian interaction, and firearms.
In my career, I've served as Deputy Police Academy Commander, where I assisted with daily operations, curriculum design, and cadet supervision. I managed the Basic Peace Officer Course as the program manager, developing curriculum and coordinating training. I've even been honored as "Instructor of the Year" multiple times by the cadets of the Police Academy where I have worked a testament to my dedication to student success.
My diverse background, including my work with the Texas Governor's Sexual Assault Survivors' Task Force and my role as an adjunct instructor for various law enforcement programs, has equipped me with strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
