I am a sophomore Aerospace Engineering major at Georgia Tech and especially love learning and teaching math and science. I have experience tutoring algebra and geometry throughout high school, and I am an undergraduate TA for calculus and linear algebra at Georgia Tech. In high school, I graduated with an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, taking higher level courses in Mathematics and Physics.
Having taken and scored well in dozens of IB, AP, and high school/college courses and exams, as well as the SAT, I understand what's required to succeed. Instead of studying everything for hours, I focus on studying efficiently by identifying weaknesses and filling in gaps of understanding. And when it comes to standardized testing, knowing the types of trick questions they ask and using effective test-taking strategies is essential for a good score. When I tutor, my goal is to incorporate all these ideas to help you succeed.
A major pitfall I address in my teaching is the tendency to memorize content instead of gaining a deep understanding. Oftentimes, students memorize the problems and answers to a practice test, only to score poorly when the exam has slightly different or more difficult questions. Instead, I focus on achieving those "a-ha!" moments by building up understanding until you not only know the right answer, but truly get it.
In my free time, you can find me building and launching high-powered rockets, practicing violin, speed-solving Rubik's Cubes, or waterskiing.
