Less than 1% of American adults become proficient in a language they were first introduced to in a classroom, and I am proud to be a part of that 1%. As a second language learner of Spanish, I know the Spanish language intimately: I know the challenges second language learners face, the most common mistakes, and which techniques are the most effective for learning Spanish as a foreign language. In addition to my personal experience learning Spanish, my qualifications are numerous. I hold a Masters of Arts in Spanish, and a C1 certification for my Spanish. I also work as a medical interpreter and an instructor of Spanish at one of the largest universities in the state of Kentucky. My teaching philosophy focuses on utilizing as much of our time together as possible to provide authentic input and output for my students to strengthen and fortify their Spanish skills. Language should be lived, not read about in a textbook! For our sessions, I ask my students to bring motivation, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.
