Certified Tutor

I am deeply passionate about helping students build confidence in math and physics by making complex ideas more approachable and intuitive. I know how frustrating these subjects can feel at first, and I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel confident asking questions and making mistakes as they learn.

I am currently pursuing a degree in Manufacturing Engineering at the University of British Columbia, where I've developed a strong foundation in applied mathematics and physics through hands-on design projects and coursework. During high school, I studied the BC curriculum, so I'm familiar with the structure, learning objectives, and common challenges students face across math and physics courses in the province.

My favorite subjects to tutor are calculus, algebra, materials science, and mechanics, not only because they form the backbone of modern engineering and science, but also because I love showing students how these abstract ideas come to life in the real world.

My teaching style is centered on patience, clarity, and connection. I adapt my approach to each student's learning style, aiming to build strong conceptual understanding rather than relying solely on rote memorization. I believe that a supportive and engaging environment is key to long-term academic growth.

Outside of academics, I enjoy building engineering projects with my design team, learning about airplanes, and playing soccer.

Hobbies

Outside of academics, I’m actively involved in a range of interests that keep me curious, creative, and engaged with my community. I’ve played competitive soccer since childhood, and I currently play for Surrey Football Club. Soccer has taught me discipline, perseverance, and the importance of communication, skills I carry into every team I work with. At UBC, I’m part of the Sailbot design team, where I work on the mechanical systems of an autonomous sailboat. I’ve contributed to both the structural design and manufacturing of components, giving me hands-on experience in applying physics and engineering concepts to real-world challenges. I also volunteer regularly, and my most meaningful experiences include organizing community events with the City of Surrey and representing student voices through student council initiatives. More recently, I’ve explored game development through UBC’s Game Development Club. I’m currently part of a team working on “UBC Phaser,” a physics-based platformer game where I programmed gameplay elements that reflect changes in states of matter. I enjoy the creative and technical blend that game dev offers, and it’s helped me think more playfully and patiently.
