Certified Tutor

I'm a second-year student at the University of Ottawa, currently studying Mathematics and Economics. The first time I ever tutored was back in Grade 10 to get my volunteer hours. At first, it was just a job, but I quickly realized I actually really enjoyed teaching and helping people learn. By Grade 12, I was working as a student tutor and also acted as a teacher's assistant for a Grade 10 math class. I have quite a bit of experience tutoring high school math based on the Ontario curriculum, but I'm also familiar with computer science and English, and I believe I'd be able to teach those subjects as well. I think the most effective way to learn is to build a solid foundation and then go through lots of repetition. For me, and for many of the students I've taught, working through a variety of problems together has helped build a strong understanding of the topic. It can be frustrating at times, but the satisfaction of finally understanding something you once struggled with makes it all worth it. In my spare time, I enjoy playing soccer (I'm a big FC Barcelona fan), photography, and cutting hair as a barber.
