There's something incredibly rewarding about watching a student's face light up when they finally grasp a concept they've struggled with. That momentwhen confusion turns into confidenceis why I'm passionate about tutoring elementary students. I believe that building a strong academic foundation at a young age not only shapes future success but also fosters a lifelong love of learning.
My experience working with students has been both diverse and deeply fulfilling. I've taught first grade for nine years and have led small-group reading sessions and provided one-on-one support in math and writing. These experiences have taught me how to adapt my teaching style to fit each student's needs, whether they require extra encouragement, a slower pace, or creative ways to engage with the material.
I earned my undergraduate degree from Gardner Webb University, and I am currently pursuing National Board Certification in Teaching. This academic path has helped me understand not just what to teach, but how to teach it in a way that's engaging, inclusive, and effective.
I tutor a range of subjects, including reading, writing, math, and science. Math and Reading are my favorite subjects to tutor because of the doors they can open for young learners. When a child improves their reading and Math skills, their confidence grows, and they gain access to knowledge in every other subject area.
My teaching philosophy is rooted in patience, encouragement, and positive reinforcement. I strive to create a safe and supportive learning environment where mistakes are seen as part of the learning process. My tutoring style is interactive and student-centeredI ask guiding questions, incorporate games or stories when possible, and always focus on making the learning experience enjoyable.

Outside of academics, I enjoy spending time with my family and our dog named “Chester”, wakeboarding and playing on the Lake and of course reading. I find that these interests help me connect with students on a more personal level and bring creativity into my tutoring sessions.
