Nicholas: McKinney tutor
Certified Tutor
I am currently a student at New York University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Design and Media with a Minor in Computer Science. My academic path has equipped me with both technical problem-solving and creative design skills, allowing me to approach challenges with a balance of logic and visual clarity.
My tutoring style includes several key aspects:
1. Flexibility in problem-solving: I don't enforce a single approach. Instead, I offer multiple methods for solving the same problem. This allows students to choose the approach they feel most comfortable with and build from there.
2. Clarity in terminology: I prioritize clear terminology, ensuring that students understand the language of the subject, which helps them grasp concepts more effectively.
3. Bottom-up approach: I focus on building a strong foundation, starting with the basics and gradually progressing to more complex concepts, ensuring a solid understanding at every level.
4. Emphasis on true understanding: I believe that simply getting the right answer isn't enough. I encourage students to fully understand how and why a solution works, and not just accepting a solution because "it works."
I am passionate about helping students because seeing their progress first-hand is incredibly rewarding. I've tutored in-person, covering subjects like Algebra, Living Environment, and Web Development, with a focus on front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Web Development is my favorite subject because I find it fascinating how the visual design and interactive features of websites come together, and I enjoy helping students understand that process.
