Michael: Essex County tutor
Certified Tutor
With a background in business analytics and a passion for storytelling through data, I specialize in helping students not only understand complex concepts but also connect them to real-world applications. I received my B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Florida State University and my M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Florida. My professional experience centers on translating numbers into actionable insights in the medical device industry, and I bring that same clarity and purpose to tutoring.
I work extensively in Excel - including Power Query, advanced formulas, pivot tables, and data visualizations - and have an intermediate grasp of Power BI. I love tutoring these tools because they empower students with practical, career-ready skills that boost both confidence and competence. I also support learners exploring Python, guiding them through the fundamentals with patience and a clear roadmap to progress.
My teaching style is hands-on, practical, and rooted in real-world relevance. I believe students learn best when they see why something matters, and I aim to make every session engaging, personalized, and encouraging. Whether we're working on formulas or dashboards, I focus on building problem-solving skills and long-term confidence.
Outside of tutoring, I'm a lifelong learner who enjoys exploring business strategy, technology, fitness, and content creation. Helping others unlock their potential through learning is one of the most rewarding parts of my life.

Outside of tutoring, I’m passionate about fitness and staying active. I regularly compete in mud obstacle course races, which challenge both mental and physical endurance and are just plain fun. I’m also an avid reader and audiobook listener, with favorite genres that include science fiction, history, business, psychology, and biographies – anything that helps me understand people, the world, and how things work. When I’m not reading or training, I love spending quality time with my wife and two young kids, exploring playgrounds, going on family adventures, and making memories together. I also enjoy learning new skills, whether it's experimenting with coding projects or diving into thought-provoking podcasts. Staying curious and continuously learning are values that fuel both my professional and personal life.
