Certified Tutor

I graduated from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA where I studied chemistry, linguistics, and French. I love finding patterns and solving puzzles, both with words and with molecules! I am conversationally fluent in French and have loved the experience of learning to express myself in another language and understand another culture. I spent a month in Montpellier, France, where I studied local bilingual education programs, and last summer I conducted independent research in Tours, France for my linguistics honors thesis on French negation patterns. In Tours I also tutored my host family's children in English, and I saw how my linguistics training is perfect for helping language students. Back in the U.S., I worked as a teaching assistant for my university's French department, teaching weekly classes and review sessions of intermediate-level French grammar. As a tutor, I want to help students enjoy the experience of language learning by identifying their areas of struggle, equipping them with solutions, and providing an encouraging environment for language practice. Next year, I'll be working as a teaching assistant for high school English in the Orleans-Tours school district of France.
