I am a Master's-educated writer, theatremaker, and educator with degrees from Calvin College and the University of Glasgow. I have also put a year into my PhD at the University of Texas at Dallas. During my time in academia, I taught students English, writing, and art history. I've taken the GRE twice, excelling at analytical writing and verbal reasoning. I also develop ESL curriculum for Spotlight English.
As you can probably guess, I'm very passionate about education. Learning is not just about passing tests; it is about enriching yourself. My teaching style is highly individualistic and adaptable. I work hard to make the subjects I teach engaging for each student because that is how I believe we learn best.
Outside work, you can usually find me daydreaming about my next novel, hiking around the country, or playing tabletop roleplaying games like Dungeons and Dragons or Call of Cthulhu.

I'm no Leonardo da Vinci, but, quite like the original Renaissance man, I am interested in nearly everything. Outside of writing and tutoring, I direct and act in the theatre, play the bass guitar, expand my always-growing collection of Theodor Adorno and Ursula K. Leguin books, and lift heavy things for my own amusement. I greatly value environmentalism and social justice. I don't have any pets, but if I did I would have an emperor scorpion named Herbert.
