Brooke: Chicago Ridge tutor
Certified Tutor
I am passionate about helping students because I believe in the transformative power of education and the impact it can have on a person's future. I find great fulfillment in helping students reach their potential, build confidence, and develop a love for learning. Every student is unique, and I enjoy finding individualized strategies that help them succeed.
I have experience working with a wide range of students, including those with learning disabilities, diverse learning styles, and varying academic abilities. Through my time in both special education and general education settings, I've learned to tailor my approach to meet the specific needs of each student. I have seen firsthand how small successes can lead to big changes in a student's academic journey and self-esteem.
I have attained a M.Ed. in special education and a BS in Integrated Elementary and Special Education and have continued to build my knowledge and skills through various professional development opportunities. I am passionate about learning and always looking for ways to enhance my teaching practices to better support students.
I tutor in subjects ranging from basic math and reading to more specialized areas like study skills and test preparation. My favorite subject to tutor is math, because I enjoy breaking down complex problems into manageable steps and seeing students gain confidence as they master new concepts.
My teaching philosophy revolves around the idea that learning should be engaging, interactive, and tailored to the individual. I strive to create a positive, supportive environment where students feel safe to make mistakes, ask questions, and grow. I use a multisensory approach, incorporating visual, auditory, and kinesthetic strategies to keep students engaged and help them retain information.
