I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

I've graduated in Sociology from University of California, Berkeley, in hopes of becoming a teacher. Since graduation, I've taught students from grade 1-12 and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. However, I've naturally fell into tutoring and counseling students one-on-one as they'd approach me after school or during lunch, and this opened doors for in depth teaching and understanding on both ends. I'm known as the approachable go to person for most of my students and am happy to help children understand and gain new knowledge. As a former ESL student myself, I believe in giving confidence to my children and helping them to realize that they already have what it takes to learn anything they want. They just need to believe they can. My teaching philosophy is fostering curiosity through love. I believe that accepting and helping them believe in themselves, they're able to trust their instinct and curiosity and explore and learn on their own. My favorite subjects are psychology, math, reading, and computer.
