I have taught for more than 30 years. I love teaching! I taught online during the first year of Covid, so I am familiar with online teaching to a point. I can teach ESL and Spanish. In the last job I had before retiring I taught subjects like history, civics, and writing classes to immigrants. I have taught K-Adults. I am a retired teacher who misses teaching. I have taught in Mexico and Turkey. I lived in Spain for 6 months while getting my bachelor's to improve my Spanish. My bachelor was from the University of Kentucky in Spanish and a minor in Anthropology. I then went back to get my certification in teaching Spanish and teaching English to other Speakers. TESOL. I obtained my master's degree in TESOL from La Universidad de Las Americas in Puebla, Mexico while teaching at the Colegio Americano for 7 yrs. The yearning to travel led to overseas where I taught in Istanbul, Turkey for 4 yrs. There I was able to teach students preparing for the TOFEL and private business workers for 2 yrs. Next two years I taught at Istanbul Teknik Universitesi where I gave writing courses from paragraph writing to research writing. Then I came home to Ky U.S.A to help take care of parents who have passed on. I came home and did a two-year grant working for one school district on a website called ELL Civics Link. When that grant was up, I took a job teaching Spanish at a school district that has a lot of Hispanics in Ky. I felt it was needed at that district. At different times over 11 years I was a Spanish teacher and an ESL Consulting teacher. When I felt the district was not doing enough for the Hispanic population, I went to another district that has a Newcomer Program for new immigrants. There I taught history, civics and writing courses for the middle/high school students. I loved the job. There I met students from all over the world. I taught there for 7 yrs. but retired early for unexpected health issues. I want to teach again but from home. I am friendly but expect high expectations from my students and can help them reach those expectations.
