I'm Benny, and I'm thrilled to be your guide on an exciting learning journey. I have a master's degree in chemistry from University of Washington. My teaching journey began as a Volunteer Teaching Assistant at a high school, where I assisted in teaching math and science classes during college. During this time, I supported lead teachers in lesson delivery and classroom management, developed engaging instructional materials, and provided individualized support to students. This role laid the foundation for my commitment to helping students achieve their academic potential.
I continued my teaching career as a Teaching Assistant at my university during grad school, where I assisted in teaching general chemistry, organic chemistry, and chemistry lab classes. I led discussion sections, supervised laboratory work, and conducted review sessions, ensuring students received comprehensive support in their studies. My collaboration with faculty members to enhance course materials and laboratory experiments further refined my skills in curriculum development and student engagement.
Additionally, my experience as a Volunteer Mandarin Teacher at a local church has allowed me to develop tailored lesson plans and interactive activities for young learners. Teaching Mandarin has been particularly rewarding, as it not only involved language instruction but also cultural appreciation and understanding.
My teaching methodology is centered around fostering long-term learning by guiding students to discover correct solutions independently. I employ the Socratic method, posing thought-provoking questions that encourage critical thinking and problem-solving. Furthermore, I emphasize the importance of a growth mindset, which involves learning from mistakes and viewing challenges as opportunities for development. I support students in cultivating this mindset through positive reinforcement and encouraging language, promoting behaviors such as determination and curiosity.
Whether it's mastering STEM subjects or learning Mandarin, my goal is to make sure you enjoy the process and achieve your full potential. I can't wait to get started with you! Book a lesson with me today, and let's embark on this educational adventure together. See you soon!

In my spare time, I have a variety of interests that keep me engaged and balanced. I have a deep appreciation for the arts and enjoy exploring different forms of creative expression. I love to read, particularly biography, science fiction and historical novels, which offer me new perspectives and fuel my imagination. I am also an avid outdoor enthusiast. I enjoy hiking and nature walks, finding peace and inspiration in the beauty of the natural world. Whether it's a challenging mountain trail or a leisurely walk in the park, spending time outdoors helps me recharge and stay grounded. Music is another passion of mine. I play the piano and find joy in listening to both classical pieces and new genres. Music allows me to express myself in ways that words often cannot, and it's a great way to unwind after a busy day. Lastly, I enjoy cooking and experimenting with new recipes. Trying out different cuisines and sharing meals with friends and family is something I find incredibly rewarding. It’s a wonderful way to explore cultures and bring people together. These hobbies and interests not only enrich my life but also influence my teaching, providing me with a well-rounded perspective and a wealth of experiences to share with my students.
