Certified Tutor

Background:
I am a former 1st grade teacher, having served in the position for 5 years in Detroit, Michigan. I have tutored grade levels K-5 over that same 5 year span and have had great success in both areas. During the 2023-2024 school year I was able to elevate my student's NWEA math achievement test scores from 48% to 88% of students performing at or above mean (50th percentile) from the the fall to the spring. This is a testament to the engaging instruction, connection with students, and dedication to my craft I put forward. I specialize in reading and math instruction, but also taught all content areas including; reading, math, science, social studies, and writing. I currently hold the State of Michigan Board of Education Certification to teach all content areas, self-contained, grades K-8.

Education Background:
I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University in Child Development with a minor in Cultural and Global studies. In that I am well equip to meet the needs of students from various backgrounds. I also obtained my Master of Arts degree from Arizona State University in Special Education - Applied Behavioral Analysis. Overall, I am passionate about helping learners grow and succeed! Seeing the impact of my work with students keeps me motivated to continue to foster student development.
