My name is Kara. I am passionate about helping students because I believe in the transformative power of education. Witnessing a student progress from struggling with reading to reading fluently is incredibly rewarding and fuels my dedication to teaching. Additionally, I specialize in Executive Function ADHD, allowing me to support students in developing essential skills for success in their academic and personal lives.



With 12 years of experience as a special education teacher, I have taught math, reading, writing, history, English, and science. My work spans various age groups, from young children to adults, including online ESL teaching. This diverse experience allows me to adapt to different learning styles and needs, ensuring each student receives personalized support.

I graduated from Northeastern State University with a Bachelor's in Special Education K-12 and Elementary Education, achieving a 4.0 GPA. I furthered my education with a Master's in Reading Literacy, also graduating with a 4.0. These achievements reflect my commitment to academic excellence and continuous learning.

My favorite subjects to tutor are reading, writing, and elementary English. These areas are fundamental to academic success and ignite my enthusiasm for teaching. I also enjoy teaching special education life skills, career exploration, and resume writing, as these subjects equip students with essential tools for their future.

My teaching philosophy centers around creating an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment. I believe in fostering a growth mindset, encouraging students to embrace challenges and view mistakes as opportunities for learning. My tutoring style is patient, adaptive, and interactive, aiming to build confidence and independence in my students.
