Certified Tutor
Growing up in Mexico, I faced the challenge of navigating two cultures and languages as my family immigrated to the United States when I was young. This experience of straddling dual identities instilled in me strong adaptability and an appreciation for diversity.
I bring a unique perspective to tutoring as both a native Spanish speaker with experience in the Mexican school system, as well as someone thoroughly immersed in American education, having now spent most of my life in the U.S. I graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in San Antonio, Texas with high honors, where I took rigorous coursework in computer science, math, and the humanities. I further expanded my education through the Harvard Summer School Pre-College program, delving into constitutional law.
In my free time I enjoy creative pursuits like video game design, having taught myself programming languages to develop my own indie titles. I also strongly value exercise and staying active through sports like soccer and running. These varied interests and skills help me connect with students from all backgrounds. Whether helping with computer science concepts or English essays, I strive to make the learning process fun and inspire an appreciation for continual self-improvement.
As a tutor, I bring empathy, patience and a growth mindset. My experiences navigating dual cultures have given me insight into the challenges students face and taught me the value of perseverance. I am passionate about empowering students and helping them achieve their full potential. In my spare time I enjoy further developing my knowledge through independent studies and personal projects. It would be a privilege to share my passion for learning and help others reach their academic goals as a Varsity Tutors tutor.
