Nicholas: Richton Park tutor
Certified Tutor
I am an undergraduate second-year student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Since coming to the University, I've been an active member in student-led clubs such as Que Rico, a Latin dance club, and a leading officer in the Vietnamese Student Association club. In my free time, I enjoy exploring the outdoors, taking pictures, and learning new skills.
While I'm fairly new to tutoring, I'm greatly passionate about the subjects I offer and am excited to connect with new learners! As a math tutor, I cover a broad spectrum of subjects spanning anywhere from pre-algebra and trigonometry to calculus I and II. In addition to this, I'm also knowledgeable on programming topics such as Python and Java.
Education holds immense transformative power and it's with this that I find nothing more satisfying than helping others to expand their knowledge. My teaching philosophy revolves around fostering a supportive and collaborative learning environment where students feel empowered to ask questions and explore concepts deeply. I believe in promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills rather than rote memorization, enabling students to become independent learners. I also strive to adapt to each student's learning style and pace. Whether it's breaking down complex concepts into digestible chunks, providing real-life examples, or utilizing visual aids, I tailor my approach to ensure optimal comprehension and retention.
