I graduated from Centre College with a BS in physics, then from the University of Kentucky with my Master's degree in physics as well. I have tutored and taught across the whole range of physics and math. I have had more than my fair share of instructors who are brilliant in many ways, but not when it comes to teaching. I have been a teaching assistant in graduate school, an adjunct professor at 2-year and 4-year colleges (including my alma mater), taught in-person and remote, and tutored from introductory algebra-based physics through advanced topics.
I understand that most folks who take physics do so because it's a required course to "get through" and not something they are necessarily passionate about; this makes it all the more fulfilling when my students make connections between physics and their daily lives, struggle and succeed at solving tough problems, and are ultimately able to look at how much they've developed their problem-solving skills along the way. I'm happiest when I hear those three magic words: "that makes sense." Years from now, even if you've forgotten the specific equations, I hope the analytical thinking and confidence you gained in studying physics helps you in whatever you pursue.
I am a believer in a well-rounded education. I studied at a tiny liberal arts college, spent a semester abroad, and strive to constantly learn everything I can. Physics and math are just two lenses (or two sides of a single lens, depending on your perspective) through which we can try to understand the world around us. We owe it to each other to use our talents and efforts to make a better world for everyone. Teaching this challenging subject is one of the ways I try to achieve that lofty goal for myself.
When I'm not teaching, you can find me playing sand volleyball, discussing politics with my friends, and trying (but usually failing) to spend less time gaming.

Undergraduate Degree: Centre College - Bachelor of Science, Physics
Graduate Degree: University of Kentucky - Master of Science, Physics
My interests include history, politics, ecology, condensed matter physics, philosophy, and religion. This list could probably go on forever though....... As for hobbies, I stay fit playing volleyball and basketball, play guitar and sing as creative outlets, keep my mind sharp by reading, and then dull it again playing games with my friends.
