During the first week of class, I set out different types of popcorn and ways to pop it. On the last day of the week I sit my students down and ask them about the popcorn. Children are like popcorn, they all have the ability to pop. I believe that every child has the ability to learn. Every child learns at their own pace with their own scaffolds.
I have been a teacher for 31 years. My experience lies mainly with elementary students. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood & Elementary Education from Elizabethtown College and my Master's degree in Mathematics Education Elementary & Middle School Track from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I am very passionate about math and science. I believe that if I can build a solid number sense understanding in students then the understanding of the higher levels of mathematics will come.
