Certified Tutor
Words are powerful, and I love helping students harness that power to communicate their ideas clearly and confidently. As a tutor, I specialize in writing, presentations, and English/grammar, guiding students through everything from structuring persuasive essays to perfecting their public speaking skills. Whether it's crafting a compelling thesis, refining an argument, or mastering the mechanics of grammar, I provide personalized support that meets students where they are and helps them excel.
My experience as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for three communications-based courses at Boston University School of Public Health has allowed me to support students in developing strong writing, critical thinking, and presentation skills at the graduate level. Additionally, as a Peer Coach, I was recognized as Peer Coach of the Month for my dedication to helping students refine their writing and presentation abilities, contributing to an average 15% GPA increase among my mentees.
Beyond tutoring, I am also a published and award-winning writer. My prose and poetry have been recognized by The Chimaerid (Best Poetry), the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (Certificate of Merit), and the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards (Honorable Mentions, multiple years), among others. My work has been featured in dozens of newspapers, books, and magazines with a total readership of over one million. This deep personal connection to writing allows me to help students not just master technical skills but also develop their own voice and confidence in written expression.
Professionally, I worked as a Writer and Editor for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), contributing to the largest website overhaul in the agency's history and creating public health content that reaches millions. I also served as Editor-in-Chief of Boston University News Service, managing a team of 30 writers, increasing audience engagement by 40%, and overseeing the production of 40+ stories per week. Additionally, I've worked as a newsletter producer for The Boston Globe, where I refined my expertise in clear, engaging, and effective communication.
I understand that strong writing isn't just about following rulesit's about telling a story, making an argument, and finding your voice. Whether you're preparing for an important essay, refining a research paper, or polishing a speech, I'm here to help you feel confident in your ability to express yourself.
Let's work together to make your writing shine!
