I am passionate about teaching reading, and I love my work as a reading specialist/interventionist.
I taught for 41 years, and I also worked as the school principal for 16 years. I have taught all of the grades from preschool through grade eight. I also provided literacy themed professional development with teachers with Concordia University. I am currently teaching literacy classes at Depaul University.
I believe learning about a child, and their skills, is key to creating targeted, differentiated instruction for him/her. I also believe it is important to help readers find text with which they can connect and enjoy.
Reading opens doors - it is exciting to see those doors open for learners.

I am a self taught art dabbler, mostly in acrylics. I am extremely drawn to water...the ocean, the lakes, the waterfalls. I am currently spending a great deal of time completing my dissertation phase 1, so I can enter the research phase and finally receive my doctorate in Language, Literature and Literacy.
