I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Braya: Alexandria tutor

Certified Tutor

I am currently a Junior at NYU. I am in the Gallatin School of Individualized Study. My concentration involves creative writing and marketing. I am a fiction fanatic, coffee enthusiasts, science lover, and proud logophile.

My skills include creative writing (fiction, young adult, middle school genre, short stories, poetry, etc), introductory marketing, introductory psychology, introductory social neuroscience, college admission essays, health and wellness, etc. I have taken many psychology classes at NYU, countless creative writing classes (from an intermediate fiction seminar to an intensive poetry seminar), additionally, environmental science, social neuroscience, the science of happiness, a young adult novel class, a middle school book genre class, etc.

Since I was president of the Creative Writing Club at Bishop Gorman High School, I have loved teaching creative writing. I know sometimes teenagers can be a bit disinterested in learning or English in general, so I love to ensure that my teaching style is fun, engaging, and always includes game-like exercises to help make students fall in love with learning.

I have written one book (currently in the editing process) and I am writing another. I started my first book when I was 12 years old. Pursuing a passion does not have an age minimum or age limit. I am excited to spread that news to the many kids that want to start learning creative writing right away.

I also am very qualified in helping students brainstorm and edit their college admission essays. I have written countless college essays and truly believe they shine the brightest on an academic profile. I am creative and have skills to help bring out the creativity in others. If there could be only one thing I could teach others, I would want it to be self-confidence in their creative ability. Creativity is invaluable.
