My name is Kai Derksen and I am a graduated Masters student from the University of British Columbia in their Interdisciplinary Graduate Studies program. I completed my undergraduate majoring in History and minoring in Sociology where I graduated at the top of my class. I have considerable experience in most social science subjects, including (but not limited to) history, sociology, english, philosophy, anthropology, and political science. I have worked as a teaching assistant for 3 years now, and thus I am well versed in writing and marking university level papers (i.e. I know what is needed for a paper to get a good grade). Although I specialize in University / College level courses, I am more than happy to take on highschool level students. I look forward to connecting with students and discovering what methods work best for you to excel in your courses.

I am very passionate about history and greatly enjoy researching various areas of interest including: -The Cold War and Space Race -Edo Period Japan -World War II -Ancient Rome -Ancient Greece -Colonial North America Besides my love for history I also enjoy hiking, dirt biking, reading science-fiction and historical-fiction literature, watching movies, playing video games, and spending time with my two dogs and cat.
