Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of the University of California, San Diego with a double major in applied mathematics and oceanic/atmospheric sciences (GPA: 3.9/4.0). I am proficient in many subjects ranging from Environmental Science to French, however, my focus is mathematics. Before I went to college, I, like so many other students, found mathematics to be tolerable at best and very frustrating at its worst. I think this is due to a lack of clear teaching, and no indication as to why mathematics is useful in the real world. My time in college exposed me to the beauty of mathematics, showing how it can be applied to all aspects of life from predicting ocean currents, to sending rockets into space. In my tutoring I will impart this appreciation to the students, and draw from 17 years of mathematical experience to present the material in a clear and concise manner.

There is no doubt that learning presents a challenge to anyone who delves into it. Regardless of ability, eventually you will be presented with a problem that stumps you. When this happens school becomes frustrating, annoying, and dispiriting. I am very familiar with these emotions (having spent hours agonizing over singular homework questions) and can empathize with any student who feels the same. However, challenge is a requisite for growth. As a result, I do not coddle students but instead push a student past their comfort zone so they can flourish in their own unique way.

In my spare time, I am an avid fitness enthusiast. Typically early in the morning I will run or hike the Superstition Mountains. Then, in the afternoon I will hit the pool for a swim or water polo practice. I played water polo all four years of high school and club water polo in college where we were the 2022 National Collegiate Club Champions.
