Certified Tutor

I received my MA in clinical psychology in 2016. I am currently working on my second MA in counseling. I have been tutoring for the past 2 years. I love tutoring students as it gives me immense pleasure to see my students succeed. Due to my educational background, my strengths include patience and being able to understand how each student processes information. This helps me in modifying my method of teaching to cater to the unique needs of my students.
I am familiar with tutoring in subjects until Grade -4, which includes elementary English, Math, and Science. I also tutor in psychology.
When I work with new students, I believe in creating rapport with them. This is important for me as it facilitates learning and also makes it easier for the student to honestly communicate their needs without the fear of being judged.
I mostly work from the perspective of student-focused teaching and instructor-focused teaching depending on the topic being taught. I believe that active learning is very helpful for kids to gauge their level of understanding.
Since I mostly work with elementary students, my teaching strategies include the use of videos, games, puzzles, crosswords, explanations, diagrams, and assessments.
As a tutor, my strengths include patience (to help the student repeatedly and patiently when they reach a roadblock), adaptability (to change my teaching methods depending on the individual needs of the student), and empathy (to relate to the student, to understand their concerns and if required to motivate them to reach their goals).
