Amritha: Justice tutor
Certified Tutor
As a Senior at the University of Iowa studying both English and Creative Writing and Secondary English Education, I am deeply passionate about English education. Becoming a high school teacher in order to share my love for literature and writing with young people is my greatest aspiration.
My tutoring experience includes working with the UI Reach program, a transitional program for college students with cognitive disabilities, tutoring beginning readers in language development skills, peer tutoring for AP and SAT Reading and Writing, and essay editing as an Honors Writing Fellow. Though most of my experience centers English writing and literature, I am also passionate about History and World Languages.
I am a firm believer that education requires patience, passion, and collaboration. Learning and expanding one's mind requires mutual respect and understanding between tutor and student, and a willingness to learn from one another, and it's an educator's duty to make lessons exciting and fun. I hope to infuse all my work with this kindness and passion in order to best serve my students.

In addition to my love for education, I enjoy reading engrossing and enriching literature, writing short fiction and poetry, and painting. I also love gardening and am trying to get into yoga - even though I'm not very flexible!
