Certified Tutor

Helping students is my passion because nothing beats the moment when a student says, "I understand" or "I know how to do this!" and it is clear that meaningful learning has taken place. Throughout most of my teaching career I have worked with students who have been challenged by learning and who have needed some one to one or small group remediation and instruction. I earned a B.A. Degree in Elementary Education and a Me.D. in Divergent Learning at Columbia College in South Carolina. Additionally, I earned a Me.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the American College of Education in Illinois. The subjects I can tutor include most elementary subjects and middle school subjects including math. My favorite subjects to tutor would be reading, because I enjoy it so much, and math, because I have taught math for more than several years. My teaching philosophy is simple. It is important to help students learn academically but it is also important to get to know the students that you are working with. When I am not tutoring, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, crocheting, reading and going to the beach.
