I am a graduate of Knox College (B.A.) and Emory University (M.A. and Ph.D.). All of my degrees are in History and my specialties are in African History, Atlantic World History, Women's History, and African American History. I enjoy working with students to help them not just better understand history, but to find connections with the stories of people in the past. I love when students get excited about the people and places they are learning about, and it is especially rewarding to help them develop the skills to better read, think, write, and speak about history. I've taught students at the high school and college level and value one on one instruction as a space for nurturing academic and intellectual growth.

When I'm not teaching, reading, or writing, I keep busy with my family, which includes my 2 kids, my husband, our 4 dogs, and our 3 guinea pigs! I love to bake, go for walks, watch my kids play their sports, and although I don't play too many video games, I love Animal Crossing. I travel as much as possible and have extensive experience traveling in sub-Saharan Africa and Europe.
