I read History of Art and Italian at University College London, studying Italian language and literature alongside courses on the Renaissance and Modernism. I spent a year at Federico II University of Naples and continued my studies at University College London with an MA in Spanish and Italian Baroque art. It was in Naples that I began my career as an educator, tutoring English to private students. After university, I began researching drawings by Michelangelo in the British Museum's Department of Prints and Drawing. This led to work on exhibitions of Italian, German and Spanish prints and drawings. I am an enthusiastic communicator of my art historical knowledge - and have done this in numerous talks and lectures. I want my students to take as much pleasure in looking at art as I do, asking how a work was made, what was the maker's intent and what did the contemporary viewer make of it? I aim to give my students tools for looking and independent thinking. My tutoring for exams is highly focused on the relevant syllabus and assessment requirements.

As an art historian I love looking: I take huge pleasure in urban archeology, walking the city and observing the layers of history it contains, visiting churches and art galleries. I also love poetry and am a member of an informal poetry group which meets once a month to recite and discuss poems and poets. In addition I garden and am chair of my local community allotment.
