"Orange Line to New Carrollton"--those are the words I heard over the loudspeaker each time I took the metro from Vienna, Virginia into Washington D.C.

While those words conjure up fond memories of mini trips with family and friends, it was the words I heard from other passengers, in other languages, that inspired me to pursue language studies.

Recognizing that I could communicate with others, in their own languages, inspired me to learn more. Speaking other languages brings me joy and has become not only an educational pursuit--but a passion.

Helping others understand that second and additional languages can be acquired very naturally, just as they acquired their first, is something about which I am extremely passionate. Because I have formal training in more than one foreign language and have written lengthy papers and a thesis at the graduate level on mindset in SLA, I have an understanding of how languages work and am happy to help students understand grammar and sentence structure in addition to providing them with opportunities to learn and practice the language communicatively.
