I began my career in education as a bilingual classroom teacher in the elementary grades. Later, I became a principal of many schools that had dual language programs because I knew the way in which knowing Spanish had enriched my life and I wanted other students to have that same opportunity. As a teacher, I loved teaching math to my students because it was so fun to get them involved in talking and learning about math. As a principal, I continued to work with students and even took a class period one semester to ensure that the students were successful on Texas' STAAR test. I also am able to tutor in language arts and Spanish. I have traveled extensively in Mexico and recently lived in Mexico for a year and a half. In my free time, I like to take my dog to the beach, do yoga, read, garden, or just enjoy time with friends.
