Hi everyone. I have always had a passion for knowledge and education. One might say that I became a "philosopher" at an early age. I am passionate about teaching and tutoring because I believe that passing along knowledge is one of the most important things in life and society. How do we live in our modern world without the knowledge and wisdom passed down over the centuries(?) I might describe my teaching/tutoring style as somewhat "democratic," but with disciplined effort and traditional means, at the same time.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy; Religion (with a minor in Political Science) from the University of North Carolina Pembroke, my Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from University of North Carolina Wilmington, and my Graduate Certificate in Philosophy & Applied Ethics from University of North Carolina Charlotte. I also have additional Graduate School credits in Religious Studies. My intention was to continue forward and earn additional Master degrees in both the Ethics & Applied Philosophy as well as Religious Studies programs, but some events in life "forced" me to withdraw.
I was a community college instructor/professor for fifteen years.
I can teach/tutor a wide array of subjects as my educational and teaching backgrounds are interdisciplinary. My educational philosophy is similar to that found in the various schools of Ancient Greece.
My favorite subjects are: Philosophy, Religious Studies, Social Theory, Reading & Writing, Linguistics and Literary Theory, Sociology, World History, but also many others. I look forward to working with as many students as possible to help their lives, and mine, improve and grow to fruition.
