Mathematics and Science wasn't my strongest subject as a child. However, my curiosity about how and why the world works, was stronger than my fears and confidence in such subject matters. I hope to empower persons to unleash their intellectual capabilities, furthering their understanding of the world they too want to know more about.
Hailing from the southside of Chicago, I am an intellectual womanist, experienced Civil Design Engineer with a demonstrated history in designing military and civil works projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Skilled in traditional Civil Engineering standards and practices enhanced with the use of data analytics for decision making processes. Graduate of Saint Louis University (BS Civil Engineering) and New York University (MS Urban System Management), my +7 years of specialized experience in water and environmental resources has made me a subject matter expert related to water infrastructure, public utility financing, predictive data analysis, water quality testing and project engineering. I have developed water production devices and spring water distribution systems for a remote village in Bolivia and Peru. I am a recognized recipient of Forbes Women Summit, Forbes 30 under 30, The National Academy of Engineer's Grand Challenge Scholars and National Science Foundation I-Corp. I attribute my success in STEM from her childhood tutoring and accelerated prep sessions administered by mentors for free. I practice Sankofa, which is the act of reaching back, once you've attained greater knowledge. I hope my reach back on Varsity Tutors catalyzes and reverberates through generations and populations.
