Certified Tutor

I am a ABD graduate student in Caribbean Literature. My MA & BA are in English African and British Literature. I do have a solid background in language as well. I am a living example were learning a new language opens up new doors to other cultures.
A self-taught English learner, I wanted to be an example for others were hard work pays off. I taught English for elementary girls whose main language at home was only Arabic. Then, I decided to follow my dreams and study literature MA & Ph.D. I have participated in local and international conferences and symposiums (US, USVI, & Austria). It made me more open-minded and aware of the different cultures and systems of beliefs.
I also worked during COVID-19 as online middle-school teacher for girls. This challenging yet rewarding opportunity to teach students in difficult times made me happy for I was always there ready to lend a hand for my girls. Whether it was in the morning or at midnight, I always replied to their messages! Meanwhile, COVID-19 did not stop me from tutoring other students and giving them reinforcement. Once I was a private tutor to three brothers who relocated from NY to a public school in PR were the only language used in class was Spanish. Helping them and seeing their gratitude on their faces was priceless.
My academic preparation, experiences, my own kids, make teaching easier.
Outside academia, I like to do Pilates, take walks, read, and binge watching Turkish series!!!
