Certified Tutor

For about ten years, I have helped students improve their ability to become problem solvers in reading, writing and math. I like to work with students because I want to be one of the reasons they develop this skills, character mindset to succeed. I had the same types of support in school. I graduated from Jackson State University, a Historically Black College University in Jackson, MS with my degree in English. I'm now focused on improving as a teacher and entering grad school within the next few years for my degree in educational leadership. My favorite subject to tutor is English because reading, speaking and writing has the power to unlock doors in every subject area or career of interest. My teaching philosophy can be summarized by the phrase "I can, not yet". Each student has the ability to try and if they don't have the knowledge the mindset is not yet because I will work to equip students with the skills and knowledge. Outside of school, I enjoy playing sports, writing music, playing instruments, video games and hanging out with family and friends. I look forward to getting to know you and helping you reach your goals.
