I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Game Design at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). While attending MICA, I volunteered to be a teaching assistant for undergraduate 2D Game Designers. I helped develop online course content, provided tips for working in Unity, Visual Studio, and C#, and assisted students in one-on-one sessions. I also participated in a Game Design workshop hosted by the Greater Baltimore Urban League, where I assisted in conducting play sessions over Zoom for 11th and 12th-grade students.
Games can be challenging to design because so many parts can go into making one. Games Designers can implement art, sound, code, and narratives into a game in numerous ways. In my experience, there is often a lot that a game designer can do when designing a game, and learning new ways to create them increases what a game designer knows how to do. Taking time to help people test, fix, and play their games increased their capabilities as designers and led to fun, memorable experiences - it is why I enjoy helping people with their games, and more importantly, anywhere I can.
