I am a graduate of Langston University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Degree and a minor in Mathematics. I have taught Algebra I for 5+ years in two different school districts and have raised math scores at two of the schools within same district. My passion is to see students connect the dots in math. Math was a very difficult subject for me and I had a phenomenal teacher, teach me the way I processed information. I began to learn Algebra, but was not confident that I really was learning the material. I teach Algebra the way I learned it, because I figured if I was able to learn the concepts in Algebra, then I knew any student could. I break it down into little pieces, and always remembering how scared I was at learning it. So, I teach students to eat the ELEPHANT one bite at a time. My students don't believe my story of how horrible I was in Math/Algebra, but the light bulb came on for me and I get excited when I can help students bridge the gap. I am truly patient and desire to work with those particular students who are deathly scared of math and who struggle. I know that I am the right Tutor to show you SLOWLY how to learn the concept. And please don't be scared that you may still have need for a calculator for simple math. Let me help you, become a more confident math student. I believe in teaching examples, then giving you guided practice with a few hints, then independent practice, with a bit of role playing to help you master the steps. You will leave every session feeling confident about how you learn. I want to turn a scary movie into a pleasant film. I am gifted in what I do!
