Keegan: Mississippi tutor
Certified Tutor
I graduated from the Metropolitan State University of Denver with a dual-Bachelor of Science in Physics and Applied Mathematics with an emphasis on modeling and simulation. I worked closely with both the Physics and Mathematics departments on education in both curriculum development and as an in-class assistant to professors. I was employed as both a lab assistant and as a departmental tutor for three years during my education. I began research into computational fluid dynamics in various applications in my undergraduate career, and since graduation have continued on numerous research projects for the University of Colorado, Denver. I also moved into a teaching role with the same university as the instructor of introductory physics lab classes. I've gained experience teaching both in-person and online and worked with departmental leadership on how to make our curriculum more beneficial to students in the online modality prevalent during the pandemic. I have experience tutoring a wide range of subjects, but focus primarily on physics and mathematics at all levels. I also have experience teaching test prep for the SAT, ACT, GRE, LSAT, and MCAT.
I am passionate about meeting students at their level of understanding and working together to determine how best to progress in the subject matter - there is no one correct way to teach, as there is no one correct way to learn. I have an abiding love for scientific communication, with many instructional videos and science podcasts catered to a variety of audiences. At the end of the day, my greatest pleasure as an educator is seeing the 'A-Ha' moment as a concept is cemented for a student.
Outside of the classroom, I am all about being active. I find my peace on top of a mountain, climbing a rock wall, or learning how to optimize my movement in the gym.
