If one wants to go far in life, he or she needs to know how to read, write, and analyze. I believe that the English discipline is the academic discipline best suited for honing in on those skills. I have dedicated my life to teaching students how to write essays and think critically about what they read, whether it's a Hemingway short story or a BuzzFeed article.

I taught at The University of Alabama for two years while pursuing my MA, and over that period of time, I developed a unique teaching philosophy that put emphasis on active and social learning. In other words, I am a fan of teaching through activities and group projects rather than simply lecturing the entire time.


I hold two English degrees: a BA in English from Birmingham-Southern College and an MA in literature from The University of Alabama.

I specialize in teaching college-level American literature and composition, but I can tutor in other areas such as ACT English, adult literacy, literature in general, essay editing, and thesis writing.
