A love of learning can be sparked from a very young age, and if nurtured properly, can create a pathway of freedom to be confident in any subject. In my shared learning space, I am open to lots of questions and invite positive attitudes, which break the mental barrier of thinking something is unknowable or not understandable. I often tell my students: "When something is hard, that means your brain is growing!"
Over the years I have realized that the key to education is a love of learning. I credit my journey in homeschooling my children (for the last nine years!) in the classical education model for this discovery. Every day I strive to increase not just knowledge, but to model for my children a love of learning and a humility that comes along with learning and gaining wisdom. I have taught small classes of all ages over the years, where I have helped to foster this openness and curiosity to many learners. For the past three years in a virtual classroom, I have also taught English as a foreign language to children as young as four and adults old enough to admit they didn't have their teeth in (I was wondering why she couldn't pronounce that one phoneme)!
I currently tutor elementary school reading and writing. I also tutor English as a foreign Language.
