I am a native Mandarin speaker educated in the United States. I graduated from College of Management, University of Massachusetts Boston.
In my more than 10 years of teaching, I have shared my knowledge of Chinese in many different capacities. I've taught corporate executives practical Chinese at the business level, led classes at a Chinese language institute, and worked with students one on one.
Thanks to my management and business experience in corporate America and my many years of strict training to be a reciter when I was at school in Beijing, I am better able to help my students communicate and succeed in using Chinese for their needs..
In my own experience, learning to speak another language is not just about mimicking the sentence flow and pronunciation, but also understanding the culture behind the language.
I want my students to enjoy the learning process wherever they are and take pride in the fact that they're not just learning new words, but also learning the wisdom, philosophies, and history behind them.
When you communicate with someone using their language, it's a form of love. It means you went the extra mile to meet that person where they are; it means that you care about them and want to understand them on a deeper level. This is what I wish to teach each of my students.
