I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Rochester. I majored in the Classics with a focus on Latin. I then attended graduate school at St. John Fisher College where I earned my master's in childhood and special education. After graduation, I worked as a substitute teacher for a year in order to gain experience in different school environments. I currently teach full time in a middle and high school. I teach science, geometry, and Latin.
I believe, as the poet Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, that "the secret in education lies in respecting the student." My experience as a substitute teacher and now as a full-time teacher taught me that teachers should provide an environment that respects and values the individuality of each student and encourages students to play, learn, grow, and take risks. I believe that every child is different and can learn when given the proper support and encouragement.
In my spare time, I enjoy travelling. I have been to many different places and an interested in different cultures. I also spend my free time cooking. I like to try new recipes and am currently experimenting with ice cream. My favorite ice cream flavor I have made so far is a rich milk chocolate.
